paint marker wall

I've been asked.... over at instagram... about this wall so I thought I'd do a quick post.

I had been wanting to do SOMETHING on this wall for some time...
so one free day... when a wild hair hit me... I just went for it.

They had quite a few colors... of markers... to choose from at Michaels...
and though I was ready to go nuts on the wall...
I was a little timid on this part and went with the neutral gray.

After measuring out and spacing the lines...
I grabbed a pencil and a piece of wood
(to help me keep the lines SOMEWHAT straight)
and just started... jumped in.
Drawing on all the lines first... then began drawing on leaves here and there.
Stepping back every so often... and seeing where more might be needed.
No rhyme or reason really... just what looked pleasing to the eye... seemed balanced.
After a while of drawing the leaves I realized a template sure would help.
Um... yeah... ya think!
We always have poster boards around for school projects... so...
grabbed one... drew out a leaf... cut it out... and started using it as a guide for the pencil.
Much better... easier... and certainly faster.

After drawing it all out with pencil (to get the overall layout and placement)
I then went over it all with the paint marker.
The neat thing... if you slip or mess up... have a wet rag handy...
the fresh paint wipes right off and you can just do over.  Loved that!

The result is a very organic... SO not perfect... subtle pattern for the wall.

Being a recovery perfectionist... ha... that makes me giggle...
this could not have been a more ideal exercise.
A fun kind of excersice too!  :)
Drawing on a wall... come on!
Therapeutic... and wildly cool... I highly recommend it.
And why not!

What I like about it...
On a DIY scale... it's WAY easy... I draw stick people y'all... so if i can do it.
Very little expense.
No commitment... it's just paint... so you can roll right over it anytime.
It adds a bit of texture to the space.
Can do the whole thing... from going to buy the markers to all finished... in one afternoon.
It was fun!  I must have said out loud more than ten times "I love this."

Had such a ball... in fact...
I wouldn't be surprised if I painted right over it and drew something all over again!
yep!

I have to say... THANK YOU...
so much...
for stopping by... being here.
So happy and blessed you did!

well good morning... and hAppY monday!

the weather was dreamy yesterday...
so we decided to run out to the zoo and see some of our favorites.

the meerkats... top!
truly... we could watch them for hours.
they're so silly & have the best personalities!

the big ones are always fascinating too... just their sheer size... their graceful steps.

it was hard to believe... being january... and we were walking around the zoo.
we loved it though... a neat treat.

what are your favorites to see at the zoo?
those not to be missed wilds?

hoping your week kicks off just so.
gotta love mondays.
oh they can be wild... but it's fun to take that big leap... fresh step... into the week!

hugs + smiles yall!

missing the snow and snowflakes back in wyoming...
not to mention aLL of our christmas things...
we decided to add a little handmade fun to our space.

i lOve the look of delicate white paper flakes...
i think this time we were just in the mood for something a lil bit different.
for the fun of it.
why not.

we folded & cut oodles!
sipped on cider... cocoa... and listened to our fave christmas tunes.
i tell ya... faith hill singing little drummer boy... lOvE!

campbell loved her heart design.
me too!

snowflakes aRe such an amazing thing.
their crazy beauty.
their totally unique qualities.
it was such a treat to get to "live" where snow actually falls... lots of it.
i found myself in awe... many times... as i looked at them ever so closely.
oh i looked.
i could sit there... let them fall on my clothes... and inspect them for hours.
they were all sO different... every single one.
all so special!
they never ceased to surprise & amaze me.

though our flakes aren't near as beautiful...
we think they're pretty fun.
plus we're liking the pop they give to that lovely (insert sarcasm) blank brown wall.

with mess already in full swing... we ran and grabbed the glitter!
i think we'll be eAtiNg glitter for the next month... but.. it's worth it!

so thankful for those little pockets of creative time together.
with the current pace being so hustle & bustle...
it was good to just stOp... and play!
