brown eyed fox

a match meant to be

So back almost four years ago...
when we had just moved back to Texas... after living in Wyoming...
we were all living in an apartment (for a LONG 18 months) while our house was being built...
all of our belongings were in storage...
I found this bone inlayed dresser for our youngest's bedroom.
We loved it and knew it'd be perfect for her room once we moved in... and it was.
She had twin beds at the time... had them since she was young young...
anywho... she had been wanting a big bed for quite some time.
Once we made the switch to a queen... last year...
we were left with that cool dresser.
We'd been using it in between the twins
and now had no match for the other side of her big bed.
I'm a bit obsessed when it comes to symmetry for bedside.
I know... NUTS.
Anyway there was no space in her room for the dresser...
especially once she had her new bedside tables and her big bed.

My husband REALLY loved that dresser...
which says A LOT because he is the most easy going... "whatever you think/want" kind of guy.
I'm lucky.
Of course... I loved it too... what's not to love...
but when I tell you we could not find one spot in our home for that dresser...
really... I mean NOT ONE SPOT.
No closet... wall... niche... nadda.
I had searched high and low for another one too... never having any luck.
Again... that symmetry thing... with another... bedside would golden.
Literally just this week I was thinking "gosh am I going to have to store it"... "sell it"?
If we don't have a spot for it... we just don't have a spot.

WHEN LOW & BEHOLD... not believing my eyes...
I get an email...
from the very shop I found the dresser... they had just received a new shipment from India...
and THERE IT WAS... ANOTHER one!
what?!
I had already checked with them... many times.

This is my LONG way of telling you... we now have new bedside tables in OUR bedroom.
oh happy day!
I called the shop immediatly... double checked measurements... the inlay pattern...
it was a MATCH.
and they had only received the one.
MEANT TO BE.
I tell you... right?!... is that not meant to be?!

Just picked up the new one today... and we couldn't be more tickled.
Such a treat!

One for my side... and one for the hubs.
A pair made for each other and meant to be together.
Silly dressers... yes...but all this...
as we celebrate our seventeenth wedding anniversary!

Loving them in our room already!

So now I'm wanting a change to those lamps.
Promise that didn't just pop in my head today... been wanting a tweak to those for some time.
Love the shape of those thrifted finds... from forever ago... think they're still fun.
Maybe a fresh new high gloss finish though?
What color?
Or maybe just new shades?
What do you think... what would you do?
oh yes... do share... do tell.
thanks!
